Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect information when you visit counselingwithcourtney.net. Last updated 8 May 2026.

Important · HIPAA Notice

This website is not a HIPAA-secure channel.

Please do not include sensitive clinical information, diagnoses, or detailed personal health information in the contact form, email, or text messages. Once we begin working together, clinical communications happen through secure, HIPAA-compliant channels covered under a separate Notice of Privacy Practices.

Who we are

Counseling with Courtney is the private therapy practice of Courtney Mickles, LMFT #138495 and LPCC #14544, located at 2200-B Douglas Blvd., Suite 140, Roseville, CA 95661. This policy applies only to information collected through this website. It does not cover protected health information (PHI) created in the course of clinical care, which is governed separately under HIPAA and the practice's Notice of Privacy Practices.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit the contact form, we collect the name, email address, phone number (if provided), and message content you choose to share. We only ask for what we need to respond to your inquiry.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our analytics tools collect standard web-traffic data: IP address, browser type, device type, referring website, pages visited, and time spent on the site. This data is used in aggregate to understand how visitors find and use the site.

Tracking technologies we use:

  • Google Analytics 4 — measures site traffic and visitor behavior. IP addresses are anonymized.
  • Google Ads Conversion Tracking — measures whether visitors who arrive via paid ads complete the contact form, so we can evaluate advertising effectiveness.
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel — measures whether visitors who arrive via Facebook or Instagram ads complete the contact form. Used only for conversion measurement; we do not use Meta's pixel data for behavioral retargeting.
  • Microsoft Clarity — records anonymous session replays and aggregate heatmaps to help us understand how visitors interact with the site. Sensitive form fields are masked.
  • Form provider (Formspree or equivalent) — handles secure transmission of contact form submissions to Courtney's inbox.

How we use information

  • ·  To respond to your inquiry and schedule consultations
  • ·  To improve the website and our communications
  • ·  To measure and improve marketing effectiveness
  • ·  To meet legal and regulatory obligations

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), some of the analytics and advertising measurement tools above are considered "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Specifically:

  • ·  Google (GA4 + Google Ads) receives data about your visit to measure ad performance.
  • ·  Meta (Facebook Pixel) receives data about your visit to measure ad performance. The pixel is categorized with Meta as a Health & Wellness Provider, which limits how the data can be used for targeting.
  • ·  Microsoft Clarity receives anonymized session recordings and heatmaps. Form-field values are masked by default.

California residents can opt out at any time using the Your Privacy Choices control below. We also automatically respect the browser's Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out request.

We also share information when:

  • ·  A service provider needs it to operate the site (form processor, analytics provider) — they are bound by confidentiality and may only use the data to provide their service
  • ·  Required by law, subpoena, or court order
  • ·  Necessary to protect the safety of clients, staff, or the public

Cookies

This site uses cookies to enable analytics and conversion tracking. You can disable cookies through your browser settings; the site will still function, but anonymous analytics may be incomplete. We do not use cookies for advertising profiles outside our own conversion measurement.

Your California privacy rights · Your Privacy Choices

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to:

  • ·  Know what personal information we collect about you
  • ·  Request a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ·  Request that we delete information we've collected (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • ·  Opt out of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
  • ·  Limit our use of sensitive personal information
  • ·  Be free from discrimination for exercising these rights
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Opt out of analytics & advertising tracking

Toggle the control below to stop Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity from collecting your behavioral data on this site. Your choice is stored in your browser; if you clear cookies, you may need to re-enable it.

Tracking is currently enabled.

We also automatically honor the browser-level Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends GPC, tracking will be disabled regardless of the toggle above. To submit a deletion or access request, email counselingwithcourtney@gmail.com. We respond within 45 days as required by California law.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect information transmitted through this site, including SSL/TLS encryption. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you not to send sensitive clinical or financial information through the contact form, email, or unencrypted text message.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page or via email if we have an active correspondence with you.
